Tech News: Surgeons See Success With Experimental 3D-Printed Bone Grafts

Here’s an update from the tech world this week!

What’s new about 3D printing? Researchers are now able to create bone grafts with suitable strength and flexibility, and even allow body to regenerate new bone on its own! Despite choosing the right combination of materials as ink, researchers printed the artificial bone graft at room temperature instead of hot-melt and laser-based printing methods. This allows each layer to attach to previous one while it is still “a little wet”. Success in rat and monkey experiments are stepping stones to actually implant into human body, while more testings and development are still required.
